Software Test Engineer

Job description

The Software Test Engineer has as main responsibility to guard the quality of the software products that are released and provided by PUNCH Telematix. With the “quality of the software products” we indicate:

  • stability and reliability of the product
  • correct functionality of the product
  • product behaves in line with the customer’s expectation

The Software Test Engineer will take responsibility for 

  • Following the PLC (product life cycle) process in order to guard:
    • having clear product specifications that allow R&D to do a proper development and to allow testing in an unambiguous manner
    • having a development plan (and according specifications) allowing to test in a white box manner at an interval (testing also during development instead of only after development) that is fast enough in order to shorten the time-to-market.
    • having a clear test plan incorporated in the development cycle
  • Testing the specific software products of PUNCH Telematix during the development and at the end of the development
  • Follow up of software quality levels of products in the field.

The Software Test Engineer will not interfere with the product specifications as such (unless these are ambiguous or impossible/insufficient to test the product) nor will he interface with the development process as such.

Required skills

The Software Test Engineer has following skills:

  • good understanding of software development technologies, though not necessarily on the level of a software developer
  • good communication skills, both with people on product management level and with development people
  • insisting to get things done
  • punctual and detailed
  • making good and clear documentation 
  • languages: 
    • writing: Dutch, English: very good
    • speaking: Dutch, English: very good; French: acceptable

Place to work 

The Software Test Engineer will have to split its time over multiple locations, more specifically Wervik and Leuven. In the future, travelling could become part of the job.
