The assignment
"Our customers, mainly supermarkets and distribution centres, impose strict "slots" on us for loading and unloading", says John Kops, Operations Manager. "Making sure we are there for our slot is always a major challenge. We were looking for a track & trace solution together with navigation and time recording, as well as a more advanced solution than our old on-board computers."
The solution
All trucks are equipped with the CarCube, an on-board computer with integrated data and voice communication, navigation and GPS. Thanks to its open architecture, the processing of the data from the on-board computer is fully integrated with Fleetwatch from Logicway for the payroll administration.
The impact
Via de backoffice Fleetworks, the CarCube not only gives us an accurate picture of the loading and unloading times, but also a realtime view of the progress of the journey. Via geofencing, we know exactly when a truck is approaching the customer's premises. In the past, we had to find out by phone, which was very time-consuming for the dispatching and stressful for the driver, and it was very expensive for the firm. Our customers can rely on our Just-in-Time Management. Meeting the agreed slot is always an extra bonus, and generates more business", says Mr. Zandbergen, Manager. Our employees see the benefits of working with CarCube every day. The planning schedule is loaded via Fleetworks into the on-board computer, so that the system records the destination, and the driver no longer has to key in a load number, just press "load" or "unload".
Our choice
"We asked for advice from Peter Appel, a fellow transport contractor, who recommended CarCube", says John Kops. An important factor in our choice of Punch Telematix was the easy-entry leasing arrangement, which meant that Zandbergen's Transport did not have to make heavy investments. The various functionalities and reliability were also decisive factors.
The Client
Zandbergen's Transport is a Dutch transport firm with sites in Limmen Tilburg and Zaandam. 240 employees and 160 vehicles handle the nationwide distribution of soft drinks (including Coca-Cola) and food to supermarkets, and the transport of various products throughout the Benelux countries, France and Germany.
